Growing Old With Smile BOLD!

We all want our family to live happy and healthy life. Living a healthy life is easy when you take good care of yourself inside out .Having a beautiful healthy smile is a blessing and a very important part of our healthy appearance but unfortunately we keep on neglecting our teeth busy living our everyday life which results in losing one or most of our teeth. If you have lost your teeth and are looking for some replacement, dentures might be the solution to your problem. Dentures are one of the most popular form of false teeth use to replace the missing teeth in mouth and help you look and feel better.

What is Denture?

A denture is a replacement for missing teeth and the tissues connected to those teeth. It is removable dental appliance made up of acrylic plastic and sometimes porcelain and metal materials. A denture closely resembles the natural bone structure, teeth and the gum tissue. Dentures are divided into two categories - complete dentures and partial dentures.

What are Complete Dentures?

When all of the teeth in mouth are missing, a complete denture is used to replace the natural teeth. A complete denture is then divided into two more sub categories that are conventional or immediate. A conventional denture is used to be placed in mouth once the natural teeth have been removed and the gum tissue has begun to heal. Conventional dentures are normally placed in the mouth about 8 to 12 weeks after the natural teeth have been removed. While the other option could be immediate dentures that can be placed in the mouth as soon as the teeth are removed. The patient doesn’t need to wait until the gums are healed and can wear dentures immediately but has to be really careful as the bones and gums shrinks over the time and dentures needs more adjustments to fit properly until the gums are completely healed. Immediate dentures are normally considered the temporary solution until the conventional dentures are made.

What are Partial Dentures?

Partial Dentures is a solution to replace some of the teeth that are missing in order to fill the space and preventing the remaining teeth from shifting which can cause serious damage to the surrounding tissues. Partial dentures can be “removable” or “fixed”. A removable partial denture or bridge consists of the false teeth along with the patients gum colored plastic base. A metal framework is used to connect with the gum colored plastic base to hold the removable denture in place in the mouth. A fixed (permanent) partial denture is use to replace one or more missing teeth by placing crown on either side teeth of the space and attaching false teeth the crowns.

Are There Alternatives to Dentures?

Yes, one of the alternatives to dentures is Dental Implants. Dental Implants is used to support permanently cemented bridges which eliminates the need for a denture. Denture implants more closely resemble the real teeth but are usually more expensive as compared to Dentures.
